SAAS Journey – Log #1
In this blog post, I'll take you with me on this journey to creating a SAAS.
I'll try to be as transparent as possible so you can get as much info from my journey and know the reality, not the “Success” stories filled with fake data and results.
Starting Point
Why?
The most important part of developing a SAAS, and a lot of guides might not admit it, is to develop something you are passionate about. If you are developing software that even you don't want to use, you are set for failure before you even begin. That's why the main reason for developing this app is that I want to have a great workout software for my own progress first.
The goal for this software is to be a more accessible version of TrainingPeaks.
Accessible in what ways? Let's enumerate a couple of ways – Simpler workout creation and tracking – Ability to do strength training as well as Cardiovascular workouts – Automated workouts – A Modern UI/UX
But as I mentioned, there is also the personal challenge. To know whether my skills are enough to create such a platform, and if not, learn what I'm missing and do it.
While revenue is a driving force for all SAAS, failure is always just another step towards future success.
This is not my first SAAS, and hopefully not going to be my last.
Current Progress:
Created a simple logo and two accounts for social media presence.
https://www.instagram.com/peakpedal.icu/ https://x.com/peakpedal_icu
Linked them to a buffer account for better social media management.
Created an initial landing page for the software that would at least attract some interesting eyes, and some guide pages for features that I'm planning to release.
The landing page: https://peakpedal.icu
Prepared a Post to put on Reddit and other venues and see how things turn out.
Plan Until The Next Log
- Deploy the landing page
- See how things turn out
